Another Celebratory Post!!

There will be so much to celebrate on these posts in June!!  It's just such an exciting time in our family with all the birthdays and Father's Day!  Of course, I gotta throw some regular life stuff in there too so you can see that life is just rolling along over here by and by :-)
So...let's get this thang started...lol!

Mama Pat's Birthday!!!
This past weekend we started out our celebrations with Mama Pat's birthday.  For her birthday, we decided to have a nice quiet adults-only ladies lunch out.  So, Uncle Kelvin kept the kiddos and we hit the streets and went to Copeland's for lunch.  It was pretty good and most importantly she had a good time!  Mama does so much for all of our families so we always make it our business to really celebrate her on her b-day every year!  The birthday festivities actually kicked off with a little shindig at her job that I do for her every year.  I usually take a really tasty and fattening batch of sweet treats for her and all her co-workers to enjoy while they celebrate her birthday.  This year, I called on Sturdivant Cafe to help us out.  This translated into Pineapple Fusion, Chocolate Truffle, and Strawberries and Cream cupcakes.  From what I hear, they were absolutely delicious...lol!  I didn't taste a single cupcake...really...not one.  Kinda proud of myself yet disappointed all at the same time...lol!

Daddy-Daughter Date Night

Brooklyn and Kelvin started their Father's Day celebration a little early by attending the Annual Daddy-Daughter Date Night at church last week.  They decided to color coordinate and I even put a little flower in Brook's hair to really jazz her up for her date with Daddy.  She was a little stunned that I was not going on the date with them, but I explained to her that it wouldn't be a Daddy-Daughter date if Mommy crashed it.  I also knew it wouldn't be a Mommy Solo Night In if I was out on their date with them...lol!

Celebrating Great Fathers
This past weekend I was able to celebrate 3 great dads...
Murry a.k.a. Grandpa

What can I say about Mr. Loring (that's what I've always called him)?  He's always been so nice to me.  I sincerely feel like there is nothing I could not ask him to do for me that he would not do.  That makes any Dad an excellent Father-in-Law to a high-maintenance daughter :-)  As far as his grandfathering, Brooklyn adores him.  He always finds ways to make her laugh.  Whenever he comes over, he overindulges himself in all of the fake food he can stand as Brooklyn loves to prepare and sell him some of her signature dishes.  As long as I've known him, he's always been someone that little kids love being around!

Michael (also known as Daddy and Papa)

I couldn't even begin to encompass my relationship with my Daddy in words on this blog! I've always been a Daddy's girl and I've really seen why the older I get.  He and I share so many commonalities.  We both love singing our hearts out in private in the car including harmonizing with whatever song is on the radio...lol!  We both are very sentimental people who see the "specialness" in even the smallest things and occurences.  We both laugh at the same things.  We love to share "the juice" with each other.  We are both people pleasers and don't like for anyone to feel slighted.  We both share a passion for donuts and can quickly and intricately critique the difference between donuts from different locations...lol!  Last but not least, we are both really big on family.  He really is one of the few people I feel like I can call and talk to about anything.  Which I know a lot of people might be shocked by given how close me and Mama are.  However, that's the cool thing about me and Daddy. He's my ace in the hole :-)  We feel each others triumphs as well as each others pains.  Nothin' like it!!

Kelvin (also known as Hubby, Hubs, Daddy and Mr Skinny Legs)

In case you can't tell, those last two aliases of his are given by Brooklyn...lol!  I've only had one child and with one man and God hand picked him and me to be the only 2 people to share that joy and this life experience with each other.  God really knew His stuff when he chose Kelvin to be my Baby Daddy...lol!  On a serious tip though, he's been an amazing father!  I can still remember the look on Kelvin's face when I told him I was pregnant.  I remember the way Brooklyn responded to the sound of his voice right after she was born.  He's still the only person who can get her to stop and pay attention from day 1.  I can also remember him having to get a baby girl dressed in tights, a dress, and a hair bow for church on Sundays when I'd have to work.  Atop all of those memories is the peace of mind of knowing that Brooklyn has a level headed Daddy that keeps her top of mind in all of the decisions he makes.  It is so important to me that she will have a walking talking example of what kind of man she should consider the standard for her life and who will also instill into her the values that really matter.  I just love my Baby Daddy...lol!

So, we celebrated Father's Day with Brooklyn's Daddy by going to brunch at Copeland's.  Although we had a little bit of a wait it was nothing in comparison to Mother's Day so it was all good.  Brooklyn took it like a champ.  The food was outstanding!  On Sundays they do a brunch buffet that has a lot of their breakfast and lunch options and some desserts too.  For dinner that night, Brooklyn and I cooked for Kelvin and her Grandpa.  I let Kelvin choose the menu and he chose his favorite dish that I make---- fried catfish and homemade fries.  I know not the healthiest option but hey it was Father's Day!!  We were able to give her Papa his dinner the next night.

Suzy Homemaker goes Father's Day Fish Fry

Well, I think the pic collage below is pretty self explanatory of what went down at my house this past weekend...lol!  Suzy has come out of summer vacation early...

A Bittersweet Celebration

This past weekend also marked the moving of our girls Aubrey and Presley.  Although Mama was originally the one who seemed to be the most emotional about their move; I found myself being overwhelmingly affected as the time neared.  I have always known that I could just hop in the car and go see them or catch them in town frequently whenever I wanted but that's no longer the case anymore.  I am really going to miss these two but they are already doing very well!!  It was so special to all of us here to be able to spend so much extra time with them before they left.  We had a going away GNO with them this past Thursday night and I let them decide where we would have dinner.  They picked every kid's favorite fine dining establishment--- Chick Fil'A...lol!  All three girls dined on grilled and fried nuggets and chocolate milk.  After that we took a short drive over to Gigi's for some celebratory calories...I mean cupcakes...lol!  Thanks to modern day technology, we've been able to see them for the past few nights via Face Time and I've enjoyed every second of it!!
